SJMC Industry Visit to News 24: A Glimpse into News Reporting

On the 31st of October, the School of Journalism and Mass Communication (SJMC) from KR Mangalam University (KRMU) organized an industry visit for their students to News 24 Channel situated in Noida. The event was coordinated by Ms. Aditi Agarwal and Mr. Trilok Singh. Significantly,  Ms. Tanuja Shankar, director of ISOMES, gave an introductory session about the basic insights required in the field of news industry.

Meanwhile, Mr. Ashraf Ali gave us a tour of the newsroom. The students got to see a studio and learnt about the importance of the room lighting and camera placement required for the setting. They were also shown the significance of a teleprompter which is required for the newsreader to present the news. Along with explaining the concepts of input and output, the students were also exposed to the working of both the Production Control Room and Master Control Room. 

It was indeed a very insightful and knowledgeable experience for the students to actually see the workings of a news channel and understand the technicalities of that work environment.

Students witnessed the news production process, interacted with professionals, and gained practical insights into journalism. The visit served as an educational and inspiring experience, emphasizing the importance of hands-on learning in the media industry. SJMC plans to arrange more such visits to enhance students’ understanding of journalism and mass communication.
