Bihar’s political landscape heated up on Friday, October 17, 2025, as the filing of nominations for the first phase of the Assembly elections wrapped up. The ruling NDA exuded confidence with a well-coordinated campaign, while the opposition INDIA bloc appeared rattled by internal rifts and last-minute reshuffles.
According to the Election Commission of India (ECI), over 1,250 candidates have filed their nomination papers for the 121 Assembly constituencies heading to polls on November 6. Officials expect the final number to rise as data continues to stream in from district offices across the state.
Adding a splash of glamour to the political contest, Bhojpuri film stars and local artists are stepping into the fray, transforming the Bihar elections into a star-driven spectacle. The Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) has fielded popular Bhojpuri actor Khesari Lal Yadav from Chhapra in Saran district, while the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has nominated acclaimed folk singer Maithili Thakur from Alinagar in Darbhanga district.
With celebrity candidates, high-stakes alliances, and intense voter mobilisation, the Bihar Assembly Elections 2025 are shaping up to be one of the state’s most dynamic political battles yet.
