183 Rajasthan’s Jamaat returnees will be screened, says DGP

Around 183 residents of Rajasthan, including five foreigners from Nepal, who attended the Tablighi Jamaat event held in Delhi last month have been identified.

They reportedly entered 13 districts of the state recently and will be screened, said Director General of Police Bhupendra Singh on Wednesday.

He said these people entered Jhunjhunu, Dausa, Alwar, Tonk, Shri Ganganagar, Bharatpur, Karauli, Jodhpur, Barmer, Hanumangarh, Churu and Jaipur City.

It is possible that Tablighi members coming here from other states also came in contact with Markaz in Delhi. “Directions have been issued to the District Magistrates and District Superintendents of Police to screen these people and then opt for medical isolation and quarantine proceedings,” said Singh.

A thorough investigation was made to identify the residents of Rajasthan who went to attend the Tablighi Jamaat in Nizamuddin, Delhi and came in touch with other members of the Jamaat, and then returned to the state, Singh said.
