Good leadership an ingredient for winning state polls, Says Ram Madhav

National General Secretary, Bharatiya Janata Party & Member, Board of Governors, India Foundation.

Ahead of the landslide victory of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in the assembly polls in Delhi, A day after its debacle in the assembly results, National General Secretary, Bharatiya Janata Party & Member, Board of Governors, India Foundation, on Feb 12, stated that one of the things which people look in state elections is a “leader who can deliver”. Madhav, however, adding that in terms of popularity and popular confidence at national level politics, no one is close to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Moreover, He said that, Indian electorate has given the verdict, which decided to return Arvind Kejriwal again in the National Capital, it also considered as maturity of the electorate. We will analyse it as far as our party (BJP) is concern, what probably did not in our favour.

Participating in a panel discussion at the summit, Madhav in a lighter vein stated that, “everyone in the audience knows what went wrong for the party while holding that the Indian electorate has become more calculative and mature”.

Following his speech at Times Now Summit (TNS), on Feb 12, The entire propaganda about the whole campaign around democracy is in danger in India, is after the won the general election only? Suddenly, the new propaganda that somehow the policy of Modi 2.0 governance calling damage to the democratic fabric has started.

In other words, “We also told the liberals across the world that Indian democracy is quite robust. That is what happened in the National Capital. This entire propaganda that Indian democracy is under threat has been proved totally wrong”. Thus, He remarked the whole propaganda that democracy somehow is in danger started after just the ruling party won the 2019 General elections.

“We have moved into a new kind of politics, we should be careful as a party and we are. We should not lose sight of the fact that you build leaders who are strong and have support”, he added at TNS. Following the PTI report, The same situation we are facing in state after state. In states, it also comes to who is the leader who can deliver. Probably people are thinking on these lines. Perhaps one of the messages from this (Delhi) election is that”, he asserted.

Although, Madhav underlined that the ruling party has strong state level leaders who were chief ministers as well like in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh and also stated “Each state is different. A leader is one ingredient that we need but that’s not everything that a party needs for success”. Despite all of this, When asked about politics centred around one leader, Madhav remarked this trend is rising across the country and the verdict in Delhi is for Arvind Kejriwal.
