Baba Siddique Murder LIVE Updates: Baba Siddique shot at from close range in bullet-proof car

That is a concerning situation. The firing on NCP leader and former minister Baba Siddique seems to have been a planned attack, especially considering the details about the streetlights being switched off and the lack of CCTV surveillance in the area. The fact that six rounds were fired, with three hitting Siddique, indicates a targeted assault. It’s fortunate that more details are emerging from the police, and hopefully, the culprits will be identified soon. The darkness and absence of CCTV footage will make the investigation more challenging, but there may be other ways to track down the attackers, such as witness testimonies, tracking nearby surveillance systems, or looking into mobile data for leads.

LIVE UPDATES: STAY TUNED

Despite Baba Siddique’s car being bulletproof, a bullet penetrated the glass. According to police sources, this suggests the attackers used highly sophisticated pistols. “Baba Siddique was shot at close range. After the attack, the three assailants, who had concealed their faces with handkerchiefs, fled the scene. However, a mob managed to catch two of them and handed them over to the police,” the sources stated. Currently, a forensic team is examining the scene. Police recovered a pistol and bullet casings, identifying the weapon as a 9.9 mm pistol with a detachable magazine capable a holding 13 rounds. This firearm is considered modern and highly sophisticated,” they added.

Police sources revealed that the attack occurred as Baba Siddique was leaving his son Zeeshan’s office. “Since today was Vijayadashami, processions of the goddess were passing through the area, accompanied by the sounds of musical instruments and firecrackers. It appears that the attackers exploited this noise to launch their attack on Baba Siddique,” the sources said. After the incident, Siddique’s supporters gathered outside Lilavati Hospital. Senior officers from the Mumbai Police are now on the scene, and an investigation is underway with several police teams looking into the case.

Sources also revealed that Baba Siddique had received a death threat two weeks ago, prompting the police to provide him with Y-category security, including a police constable assigned to him. Following Siddique’s murder, a large police presence has been deployed in the Khetwadi Junction area in northwest Mumbai. The location where the shooting took place has been cordoned off with barricades as the investigation continues.
