Marking the Bhoomi Pujan ceremony of Ram Temple in Ayodhya on August 5, New York City saw the largest digital display of Lord Ram on Broadway. Significantly, The digital display of Lord Ram is one of the most expensive digital billboards of the Hindu deity at Times Square. The display lit up at 10 am will continue till 10 pm to celebrate the laying of the temple’s foundation.

Meanwhile, the Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the 10th-century Hanuman Garhi temple for special prayers, he also planted a sapling of a parijaat tree at the location of the Bhoomi Pujan. Besides unveiling a plaque to mark the laying of the foundation stone, he also released a commemorative postage stamp on ‘Shree Ram Janmabhoomi Mandir’.

With the construction of this temple, not only history is being made, but is being repeated. The way boatmen to tribals helped Lord Ram, the way children helped Lord Krishna lift Govardhan mountain, similarly, with everyone’s efforts temple construction will be completed, PM Modi stated.
President Ram Nath Kovind, “laying of the foundation stone of Ram Temple in Uttar Pradesh’s Ayodhya defines India’s spirit of social harmony and people’s zeal. He stated, it will be a testimony to ideals of ‘Ram Rajya’ and a symbol of modern India”, The President asserted.

Moreover, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Aug 5 said that, “PM Narendra Modi’s foresight and wisdom paved the way for peaceful resolution of the Ram temple issue and fulfilling the dream. The power of Indian democracy and judiciary under the leadership of PM Modi has shown the world how solutions to problems can be found through democratic and constitutional means,” he asserted at the groundbreaking ceremony for the temple.
Amid the Ram Temple Bhoomi Pujan, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi remarked that, “Lord Rama is the manifestation of the best human qualities”. While the RSS and other like-minded organisations worked for nearly 30 years to fulfil the resolve of a grand Ram temple in Ayodhya, RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat asserted. He was one of the selected invitees at the ‘bhoomi pujan’ ceremony of a Ram temple at the site where a large number of Hindus believe Lord Ram was born.

As Lord Ram’s image displayed at iconic Times Square, Prominent community leader and President of the American India Public Affairs Committee Jagdish Sewhani and organiser of the event asserted that the members of the Indian community gathered in huge numbers to celebrate the historic day when Prime Minister Modi performed the ‘Bhoomi Pujan’ of the Ram temple in Ayodhya.
Sewhani had earlier remarked that, “This is not a once in a lifetime or a once in a century event. This is an event that comes once in the life of mankind. We had to give it a befitting celebration and what better place than the iconic Times Square to commemorate the Ram Janma Bhoomi Shilanyas”.

Despite the same, the PM on Aug 5, Beginning his address with chants of ‘Siyavar Ram Chandra Ki Jai,’ he expressed gratitude to all citizens of the country, the Indian diaspora across the world and all devotees of Lord Ram as he laid the foundation stone for the Ram temple in Ayodhya.

However, The Coalition Against Fascism in India had organised a protest at Times Square at the same time that members of the Indian community gathered to celebrate the occasion. The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organisation, also opposed the celebration at Times Square.
