JNPT organised training programme on ‘Port and Terminal Management & Optimization’

JNPT Antwerp Port Training and Consultancy Foundation conducts knowledge sharing seminars and workshops at its state-of-the art training centre to benefit officials of various ports in India. Trainers are from APEC Port training centre, and the expertise they share with the port management authorities in India enables port authorities to understand the latest tools in running the port and benefit from global experience.

Continuing this practice, JNPT-Antwerp training centre organised a seminar on ‘Port and Terminal Management & Optimisation’ between October 22th –26th, 2018 at JNPT Antwerp Port Training and Consultancy Foundation Training Centre, Sheva, Navi Mumbai. Officials from Mumbai Port, V.O. Chidambaranar, Visakhapatnam, Kolkata, Haldia Dock Complex, Kamarajar Port, Deendayal, JNPT and New Mangalore Port took part in the 5 days seminar.

Mr.Koen Cornilly and Mr.Christiaan De Block a trainer from Antwerp Port and Mrs. Jayashree Fadnavis, independent trainer conducted the training workshop. The training programme helped the participants to understand the journey from concept to optimization with a special focus on advance planning strategies to maximise services, revenue and profit.  It also benefited on design a terminal and re-define best fit operational procedures based on the selection of the equipment.

After this training program, the participant shave acquired the skills and knowledge to define and optimise processes and use the right technology to lift terminal operation to the next level. As part of the work-shop, the participants also visited Port to see the operations of the port. During the workshop sustainable port development, Nautical chain, terminal and equipment planning, safety and security environment, tank storage logistics, terminal operating system were the topics taken up for discussion.

Commenting on the training program Shri.Neeraj Bansal, IRS, Chairman-in-Charge said, “These workshop and seminars are very useful for port professionals as they get to understand the technical advances taking place in the industry and equip themselves with latest knowledge and skills.”

Participants expressed their appreciation to faculty and JN Port officials for organising such training programmes which is very helpful in improving their performance and the in-depth coverage of various topics in the training programme. JNPT Antwerp Port Training and Consultancy Foundation initiate workshops on several maritime topics in which Indian port and terminal professionals take part.
