Purnia Horror: Entire Family Lynched and Burned Over Superstition

Five members of the same family were brutally murdered in Bihar’s Purnia district, allegedly due to superstitious beliefs. This shocking incident has come to light. The incident happened in Tetgama village, which is within the boundaries of the Rajiganj Panchayat and the Mufassil Police Station. Villagers reportedly killed the victims after accusing them of witchcraft.

DSP Pankaj Kumar Sharma says, “A 16-year-old boy from the family, named Sonu Kumar, had gone to his maternal grandparents’ home at the time of the incident. He was the one who informed the authorities about the incident. According to him, the entire village was involved in the attack, and he named four main accused, out of which two have been arrested”.

Nearly 250 people reportedly surrounded the family’s home, attacked all five members, and then set them on fire, according to eyewitness accounts. It is disturbing to learn that the perpetrators allegedly destroyed the evidence by disposing of the bodies.

Investigators have begun their investigation and are trying to learn all there is to know about the crime. The Superintendent of Police (SP), Additional SP, and police teams from various stations are on the crime scene due to the seriousness of the situation in order to maintain.
