Use Hindi to realise dreams of Gandhi and Patel, Says Union Minister

‘Hindi Diwas’ is celebrated on the 14th of September each year. This is because the Constituent Assembly of India declared that ‘Hindi scripted’ in the ‘Devanagari script’ is the Republic of India’s official language. Thus, the idea of using it as the official language was sanctioned by the Constitution of the country on 26th January 1950.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on this day said that, the Hindi language has beautifully incorporated simplicity, spontaneity and elegance that provide meaningfulness to expression. Greeting people on the occasion of ”Hindi Divas”, the PM tweeted in Hindi, “The simplicity, spontaneity and elegance of a language provide meaningfulness to expression. Hindi has incorporated all of these aspects beautifully”.

On Sep 14, Union Home Minister Amit Shah greeted the nation on the occasion of ”Hindi Diwas” and asked citizens to increase the use of the language in their everyday works to realise the dreams of Mahatma Gandhi and Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.

The Minister argued that, “India is a country of different languages and every language has its own importance but it is very important to have a language of the whole country which should become the identity of India in the world. Today, if one language can do the work of tying the country to the door of unity, then it is the most spoken Hindi language,” Union Home Minister mentioned in a series of tweets in Hindi.

Further, “Today, on the occasion of Hindi Day, I appeal to all the citizens of the country that we should increase the use of our mother tongue and also use the Hindi language as one language to realise the dreams of Bapu and iron man Sardar Patel. Happy Hindi Day,” The Union Minister added.

Meanwhile, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Working President J.P. Nadda also greeted the nation on the occasion of Hindi day and stated that, “Hindi is the most spoken and understood language across India, which unites all of us in the thread of unity and is also our identity in the world. Wish you all a very Happy Hindi Day. Let us all increase the use of Hindi in our daily lives and inspire others as well.”

Congress spokesperson Randeep Singh Surjewala also took to Twitter on the occasion of Hindi Diwas and stated: “Hope and desire is Hindi. Hindi is the language that brings everyone together. Wishing all the writers, poets and journalists engaged in the service of Hindi literature, a very Happy Hindi Day…”

Hindi Divas is observed to mark the decision of the Constituent Assembly to extend official language status to Hindi on this day in 1949. Hindi Divas was first observed in 1953. Hindi, is one of the 22 scheduled languages of the country. Thus, Hindi Diwas is a great step to emphasize the importance of our national language as well as our culture.

Despite all of this, While English is a globally used language and the significance of the same cannot be overlooked, we must not forget that we are Indians first and must respect our national language. The adoption of Hindi as an official language proves that the people in power value their roots and want the people of their country to value them too. Hindi Diwas is a day to revisit our cultural roots and celebrate its richness. It is our mother tongue and we must respect and value it. Happy Hindi Diwas 2019.
