India’s rising significance and enhanced standing on the world level is already an issue of discussion among Prime Minister Modi on Friday, who narrated that the world powers now tend to cast their lens over India primarily because of the country’s growth. “Today, the focus of the world are on India. It is intensely watching us to unearth and fathom—what India is thinking today (WITT),” PM Modi told a gathering at a WITT summit hosted by TV9 Bharatvarsh.
Further, giving the details of the shining climax in growth that reached its height in the previous decade where the country has grown to be the fifth-largest economy from being the 11th largest during NDA, the PM added that the world is looking at India with hopes and excitement. “India First has become the mantra of the foreign policy of India,” he remarked.
The PM pointed out that in the past, the country had a policy of equidistance from all countries, which today means equal closeness-an “Equi-Closeness” policy. He further pointed out that never before has the global community taken India more seriously in terms of its opinions, innovations, and efforts. He recalled how India played a very vital role in shaping global security during the recent Covid-19 pandemic and asserted that India was actively engaged in the world order and helping to shape and secure the future.
He highlighted India’s initiative of the International Solar Alliance (ISA) as a solution for sustainable energy even for the smallest countries. This initiative promotes climate-friendly energy while securing energy needs for Global South countries, over 100 countries have already joined this initiative. India initiated projects like the India–Middle East–Europe Economic Corridor (IMEC) that can bring into effect changes in respective economies and strengthen the global supply chain like never before.
The Prime Minister also stated that the African Union was to be accorded permanent membership during the G-20 Summit, in keeping with streamlining the global systems to be more participative and democratic. “Such efforts have established India’s strong presence in the new world order. This is just the beginning, as India’s capabilities on global platforms continue to reach new heights,” he remarked.
