Historically, On December 9 in 1946, Constitutional Committee Assembly of India held its first meeting after a gap of two years, 11 months and 17 days at the Parliament. The Constitution was adopted on November 26, 1949, and came into force on January 26, 1950. Thus, Nov 26 was marked as the Constitution Day of India.
Despite the same, A constitution is a set of fundamental principles or established precedents according to which a state or other organization is governed. These rules together make up, i.e. constitute, what the entity is. Leaders across the country are observing Constitution Day on Monday to celebrate the day. It is also known as Samvidhan Divas — to celebrate the occasion the document laying down India’s supreme rights was adopted. The day is also marked with respect for Dr BR Ambedkar, the chairman of the committee that drafted the Constitution.
