ICSSR sponsored research methodology course launched at IITM

New Delhi, Wednesday, March 5, 2025: A one-week Research Methodology course, under the joint aegis of IITM School of Mass Communication and IQAC, IITM, New Delhi, was inaugurated on Wednesday, March 5. On this occasion, Dr. Ava Shukla, Director of Bhimrao Ambedkar Open University, Ahmedabad, Gujarat was present as the chief guest, while Shri Ajay Kumar Gupta, former Director of ICSSR addressed the program as the keynote speaker. Apart from this, Dr. Sachin Bharti, Associate Professor, (USMC), Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, New Delhi also marked his important presence.

The program was inaugurated by IITM Director Prof. (Dr.) Rachita Rana, in which she highlighted the importance of research and the utility of this course. Course Director and IQAC Head Dr. Ramdeep Kaur presented the introduction of the course. After this, course co-director of the program and head of BAJMC department, Dr. Nivedita Sharma expressed vote of thanks. At the beginning of the sessions of the first day, Dr. Sachin Bharti gave detailed information on the topic ‘Research Process and Design: Formulation of Research Questions and Hypothesis’.

In the second session, Dr. Ava Shukla delivered a lecture on the topic ‘Philosophy of Research and Brief Introduction to Research Methodology’. Dr. Ava Shukla said in her address, “Research work is not just an academic activity, but it is also an effective medium to bring change in the society. By adopting the right research methodology we can make our study more relevant and practical. Keynote speaker Mr. Ajay Kumar Gupta said, “Innovation and scientific approach in research are extremely important. This course will introduce researchers to new dimensions of research and make their research work more effective. Dr. Sachin Bharti said, “Research questions and hypotheses are the backbone of any research. “If researchers understand this process properly, they can conduct effective and useful research.”

IITM Director Prof. (Dr.) Rachita Rana said, “IITM always strives to promote academic excellence and encourage research work. The objective of this course is to introduce researchers to high quality research methodology, so that they can make their research more effective and socially useful.” More than 35 researchers from different states including Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Bengaluru, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Delhi, and Haryana participated in this research methodology course.

On this important occasion, Deepali Saluja, Head of BBA Department, Dr. Ganesh Wadhwani, Deputy Director of IITM, Dr. Vikas Bharara, Head of BCom Department and Dr. Bal Krishna Mishra, member of the organizing committee, All the faculty members of IITM including Dr. Rahul Kumar, Mr. Sahil Dhal, Mr. Suchivrat Arya, Dr. Rajnesh Pandey, Mr. Shinjan Chatterjee were present. The objective of this program is to introduce researchers to effective research methodology, encourage innovation and develop scientific attitude. In this one week long research methodology course, lectures will be given by various experts on various aspects related to research.
