Central Railway conducts seminar “Eradicate Corruption – Build a New India” as a part of the Vigilance Awareness Week

Central Railway conducted a seminar “ Eradicate Corruption – Build a New India” on 29.10.2018 at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus Mumbai as a part of the Vigilance Awareness Week being observed from 29.10.2018 to 03.11.2018.

Shri M N Singh, Retired Commissioner of Police, Mumbai was the Chief Guest and the seminar was presided over by Shri D K Sharma, General Manager, Central Railway. It was also attended by Principal Head of the Departments, and other Senior Officers of Central Railway. The Divisional Railway Managers of all the divisions along with other Divisional Officers also participated in the seminar through video conferencing.

Shri S K Pankaj, Senior Deputy General Manager & Chief Vigilance Officer, Central Railway gave a brief account of the operations of the Vigilance department in his welcome address.

Shri D K Sharma, General Manager, Central Railway in his address said that the Vigilance Organisation plays a big role in eradicating corruption  and urged the officers and staff to be more vigilant in their working process to curb corruption. He also gave a presentation on “Ethics of Work” saying that “ The real purpose of work is not to make a living but it is a higher calling.”

Shri M N Singh, Retired Commissioner of Police, Mumbai and Chief Guest of the seminar made an informative and inspiring speech wherein he pointed out various aspects of corruption in our daily life. He stressed on the importance of digitisation in curbing corruption. He also spoke on public perception of Railways and also the need for having such awareness programmes for the public at large. He pointed out the need for curbing corruption in the private sector too.

The speech was followed by an interactive session in which the PHODs present in the seminar and DRMs of all divisions participated through video conferencing.

Smt Vinita Verma, Deputy Chief Vigilance Officer (P&A) conducted the proceedings.

Vigilance Awareness Week is being observed by all the Divisions & Workshops of Central Railway wherein Seminars, Skits/Drama, Essay/Slogan/Drawing/Quiz competitions are being conducted throughout the week. Students of Kendriya Vidyalaya, Solapur and WSSC School, Nagpur will hold rallies exhibiting posters on Eradication of Corruption. Students of Kalyan Railway School participated in Essay/Slogan/Drawing competition in large numbers.

A special Vigilance bulletin will also be released on 02.11.2018 during the concluding function of the Vigilance Awareness Week.
