Former Pakistani president Pervez Musharraf passes away

According to Pakistan’s Geo News, Former President of Pakistan, General Pervez Musharraf (Retd) passes away after a prolonged illness, at a hospital in Dubai.

General Pervez Musharraf, born 11 August 194 was a former Pakistani politician and four-star general of the Pakistan Army who became the tenth president of Pakistan after the successful military takeover of the federal government in 1999. He also served as the 10th Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee from 1998 to 2001 and the 7th Chief of Army Staff from 1998 to 2007.

Musharraf pushed for social liberalism under his enlightened moderation program and promoted economic liberalisation, while he also banned trade unions.
