UP: After battling with life for five days, IPS Surendra Kumar Das (Thirty) passed away today at 12:19 PM at Kanpur’s Regency Hospital. Further, UP CM Yogi Adityanath has expressed his deepest condolences to IPS Surendra Das’s family on his sad demise today.

“It is with profound grief that we inform about the sad demise of IPS Surendra Kumar Das at 12:19pm today,” the Regency Hospital meanwhile said in a bulletin. The IPS’s condition had deteriorated on yesterday morning following which DGP OP Singh had visited the hospital yesterday. He was transferred Kanpur in the month of August and was posted as a Superintendent of Police (East).

Notably, He had allegedly attempted suicide by consuming celphos on Wednesday morning at his official residence, Cantt area of the city. He was immediately rushed to Ursala Horseman hospital from where he was later shifted to Regency Hospital for treatment. Significantly, IPS Surendra Kumar Das, a native of Ballia was a 2014 batch IPS officer.
A team of doctors had arrived from Mumbai on Thursday for the treatment. The team had used an advanced medical setup namely ECMO (Extra Corporeal Membrane Oxygenation). Some inputs followed by times of India.
